What is indo-Gangatic plane
The Indian and Gange plains are a fertile plain( 2.5 million km2) that extend from the northern regions of the Indian subcontinent to the northern and eastern parts of India, to the eastern parts of Pakistan, virtually all the Bengali and the southern plains of Nepal.
The IndoGangetic plain, also known as the Indian and Gange plains and the North Indian Rivers are known to be 630 million acres( 2.5 million km2). The plain is linked to the north by the Himalayas, the source of the fertile alluvium deposited by the two river systems throughout the country. The Chota Nagpur Plateau is on the southern edge of the plain.

The Indo- Gangetic Plain, also known as the North Indonesia Plain, extends from( and including) the combined Brahmaputra Valley Delta and the Ganges( Ganga) River to the Indus River valley to the west from the north and north of the Indian subcontinent. Most of the plain is composed of alluvial ground, which is deposited by three major rivers and their affluents. Light rains or dryness occur in winter in the eastern part of the plain but in summer precipitation is so heavy that vast areas are swampy or shallow. The plain gradually becomes dry towards the west where the Thar( Great Indian) Desert is incorporated.
